Something a little different last week from bridal and prom dress alterations. This vintage dinner jacket needed a new facing and lining as the old one was badly ripped and frayed. The jacket has been passed down through 3 generations and the customer would like it to last for many more years to come.
I needed to make a completely new pattern for it as the old lining and facings were so badly damaged they couldn’t be used, even as a starting point. I added some extra ease into the lining so hopefully this vintage piece has a bit more movement inside and will be less likely to rip in the future.
