Something a ,title different and a big shout out to another small business, Sharon Lucas & Lucy Thompson Sharon and Lucy have done an amazing job in renovating and reupholstering this little Parker Knoll chair, swipe right to see what a sorry state it was in before they worked their magic.
This chair came into my life over 25 years ago when we were clearing out my late MIL’s house. I initially intended to have a go at reupholstering it myself but life was super busy then with a young family and work so it just didn’t happen. Earlier this year I decided it was time to hand the job over to the professionals and I am beyond thrilled we the outcome.

It’s a wet bank holiday weekend here, and I’m in my sewing room frantically trying to make more stuff for next weekend’s Newark Knitting and Wool Show I’m about to cut out and sew a tote bag in this brown Harris Tweed. I’m not normally a brown fan but I appreciate that not everyone shares my tastes, however, I somehow managed to pop a half metre of this tweed in my basket when I made my last order. Yesterday when I was out shopping I noticed that the shops are full of autumn/winter clothes in shades of brown so it looks like I’m inadvertently on trend!
How about you, are you a fan of brown and earthy tones or do you prefer bright jewel tones?

Just two weeks to go until my next event, Newark Knitting and Wool Show this is a brand new event and promises to be a good one. I’ve been busy preparing and making lots of new stuff to hopefully tempt you to part with your pennies! Are you coming? If so, please don’t forget to come and say hello.

Sometimes things don’t always go to plan. I have been wanting to make a bag this style with an embroidered flap for some time and this week I decided to go for it. My original plan was to embroider the flap onto black Harris Tweed, but the design just got lost on the dark background, plus I embroidered it upside down, but we’ll just gloss over that little boo boo! The grey was more successful but I’m not 100% happy with the finished result, I’m not sure what it is, but it’s just not how I envisioned it in my head. I’ve been under the weather all week with a rotten cold so maybe that’s affecting my mood? Anyway it will be coming with me to Newark Knitting and Wool Show in a couple of weeks time so hopefully someone will love it and give it a new home.
Fellow makers, I know you will understand, we are often our harshest critics!

Not a lot of sewing going on here at the moment, in between the warm weather and helping my eldest get prepped for having a new kitchen installed Ihavent had much time or energy for sewing. Sharing a lovely review for one of my drawstring project bags. I’ve lost count of how many of these Kandou Patterns bags I’ve made, when a customer comes back for more you know you have a winner on your hands.

Good morning you lovely lot, day 999 of sunshine, which I love, but we do now desperately need some rain. My latest patchwork tote, I’m trying to resist the temptation of buying new tweeds and using up what I already have, these patchwork bags are an excellent way of using up some of the smaller pieces in my stash. My sewing time will be very limited over the next couple of weeks as I’ve got lots of stuff in the diary, my next event is Newark Knitting and Wool Show 5th and 6th September so I need to crack on and get some stock made as I pretty much sold out at The Wool Monty in June. In the meantime if you would like to get your hands on this bag then it’s available now in my Etsy shop, link in my bio

A bit late in the day, I’m still catching up from my holiday, Happy Yorkshire day to all in the best county in England, also known as Gods own country. Photo of the fabulous Wentworth Woodhouse from earlier in the year when the grass was still green!

I’ve just listed my latest patchwork tote bag in my Etsy shop, it’s very similar colours to the one I shared last week which sold within 48 hours. Again I’ve added the clip for your keys, this ribbon I had in my stash from my paper crafting days is the perfect match for the jade tweed. If you want to make it yours then you have around 24 hours until I am closing my shop for just over a week while we take a break. I am closing rather than extending my dispatch time so hopefully when I get back the situation with the USA tariffs will be clearer🤞

Well, hasn’t it just been schorchio? I hope you have been managing to keep cool, fortunately the temperature has eased off here at bit and we have had nice breeze for the last couple of days. The slightly cooler weather meant I was able to get into my sewing room for a couple of hours and finish this bag that I cut out before we went away last weekend. I had some larger scrap pieces so thought I would experiment a bit with a different take on my usual patchwork totes, I’m pretty happy with how it has turned out and can see some more of these in my future.
I also added a clip for your keys, I used to always add these to my tote bags but for some reason stopped, a lady at the Wool Monty show commented that she liked to have one in her bags so I decided to resurrect the idea, what do you think, is it something you would find useful?
