St Luke’s at Seventy Two

St Luke’s at Seventy Two St Luke’s at 72 is all about embracing the power of Reuse, Rewear and Relove.

After a complete renovation, refresh and rebrand, we have transformed our shop into a vibrant and contemporary space. Our shops offer a fantastic range of clothing, furniture and accessories and are located throughout mid and south Cheshire. We are happy to accept donations at any time across all of our shops including our furniture warehouse. Please note that some of our shops have limited space

for storing donations so we politely ask that you donate a maximum of two bags at one time. If you have furniture you would like to donate, we offer a free furniture collection service making it easy for you to donate your items to us.

Bev, from Delamere, is one of the friendly faces you’ll find volunteering at our St Luke’s at 72 shop, but her journey started on the other side of the counter.

“I used to be a good customer and I loved it. The people here were always so lovely, I got talking with them and eventually became friends through the shop.”

After retiring two years ago, Bev was looking for something new and found the perfect opportunity to give back. Now, after a year and a half of volunteering, she’s discovered so much more than she expected.

“I get a lot of fun and camaraderie out of volunteering. The people who work and volunteer here have become good friends of mine. We organise evenings and social events, it’s a really helped me socially.”

Whether it’s day-to-day teamwork or special moments like the spring stock event, Bev says the experience is all about connection and shared purpose:

“The spring stock event really showed what it’s all about. I met people I’d never met before, everyone came together and became one unit all working together towards a common goal.”

And how would she describe the atmosphere?
“It’s almost like a community club here, a Richard Osman situation!”

Thinking about volunteering? Bev’s advice is simple:
“Come in, have a go. You don’t have to commit but just give it a go and become a friend of the Hospice.”

Meet Alison, one of our lovely shop volunteers that keeps things running smoothly at St Luke’s at 72!👋

Having volunteered for a year now, Alison has found purpose, friendship, and plenty of reasons to smile.😊

“I wanted to do something with my life - I wanted to help the hospice,” Alison shares. “It’s a nice shop and I love it here. I couldn’t think of doing anything better.”

For Alison, volunteering is about more than giving back, it’s about connection.
“I get a lot of satisfaction out of helping others, and there’s a positive social side too. Every one of the ladies is amazing and very welcoming. I look forward to coming in every week.”

From regular socials and shared meals to an Elvis movie night with her fellow volunteers, it’s clear that the sense of community goes far beyond the shop floor.

And her message to anyone thinking of joining?
“Go for it, it will change your life. The people you meet, whether staff, other volunteers or customers, create such a lovely atmosphere… you’ll love it!”

This Volunteers’ Week, why not follow in Alison’s footsteps? Join our incredible team and make a real difference in your community.
