What a fun summer project this was!
Over the course of several days Ruth used a selection of thermal screens from to create a beautiful and original duvet cover.
With masking tape as a guide, the wild flower borders were gradually built up using a soft colour palette in a variety of tonal values to add interest and depth.
Butterflies and dragonflies flit gracefully across the flowers and singing (loudly!) in the bottom right-hand corner is the studio wren!
Once the screen printing inks were dry and the masking tape removed the whole design was heat set with a domestic iron, so it's now machine washable.
This was Ruth's first time using the thermal screens - they are really that easy and quick to use. If you don't believe us then why not come to the studio and have a go yourself?
Our next one-day printing on fabric workshop is on the 21st October. Included in the workshop fee is use of all the studio screens (including the ones Ruth used), screen printing inks, plus a metre of cotton fabric.
So, if you fancy having a go then hop over to our website (the link is in the bio) to book your place.
Come & join us, be inspired!
