It's here - as a punter around three years ago, I said to my beautiful and amazing Louise that I would like to one day trade in what we consider our home town.

Although we now live outside of Wolverhampton both myself and Louise spent most of our lives in or near the outskirts of Wolves with many nights spent partying at the The Giffard Arms (where we met), The Planet, Dive Bar and many others.

Last year was the start of making it happen, although I couldn't get in for last years amazing Ozzy tributes - the path was set and this year makes that wish a reality.

HeartWork will be attending Wv1fest and we hope to see some familiar faces, friends and family as well as showcasing what we have to offer to the 1000s of Wulfrunians and other attendees what we have to offer.

Come say hello - bring some cash and treat yourself to our offerings. We have some new items on their way and a selection of items you won't find on our website.

Can't wait to see you all.
Stay Awesome 🤘

Some of you will already know this... but many of you won't.

For the past three years I've been working behind the scenes with the team at Breaking Bands offering support with media, creative projects and helping wherever I could.

During that time, what started as lending a hand grew into a fantastic working relationship, friendship and ultimately a shared vision for the future.

Together, we've discussed and planned to evolve Breaking Bands into what is now Ascendancy Festival.

This hasn’t been about leaving behind everything that made Breaking Bands so special because supporting grassroots music and giving emerging artists a platform will always remain at the very heart of what we do.

Ascendancy is a natural evolution of that vision.

Our newly visioned concept allows our community to discover incredible new talent on the Breaking Bands Stage and follow those artists as they grow, and celebrate them as they progress to the Ascendancy Stage.

It's about introducing a genuine pathway for artists while giving our community the opportunity to be part of the journey from the very beginning for both the artists and us as a festival.

I'm incredibly proud and honoured to say that I've officially joined the team as an active partner in Ascendancy Festival and will be helping shape its future.

This is something I don't take lightly, and for me it's far more than just becoming involved with a festival.

Music has always been one of the biggest parts of my life.

Whilst my taste in music is incredibly eclectic, it was my first festival that introduced me to an artist whose music helped me through some of the darkest periods of my life.

Their music helped me understand things I was experiencing that I couldn't put into words, and reminded me that I wasn't facing them alone.

I know I'm not unique in that experience.

Music isn't just entertainment.

It's a lifestyle.
It's a community.
It's therapy.
It's inspiration.

It helps people celebrate the greatest moments of their lives, and it helps countless others find strength during the hardest times.

Every single day, music changes lives.

Many of you will also know that I've spent over 16 years running The Right Crew Ltd, providing crew and stagehands for events across the UK.

I've also been fortunate enough to work behind the scenes on arena tours, festivals and corporate events helping to build, run and dismantle productions enjoyed by thousands of people.

Those experiences have given me a huge appreciation for what goes into creating unforgettable live events and the incredible people who make them happen.

At the same time, through HeartWork, my artwork and clothing designs are deeply inspired by music, creativity and alternative culture.

Being able to bring together my passion for music, my creative background and my experience within the live events industry into Ascendancy feels like everything I've done has naturally led me here.

We've already announced what I believe is an incredible inaugural line-up for our new home in Birmingham, and recently welcomed The Wildhearts as our Special Guests.

At the same time we introduced our Descendants supporters membership for those who want to become part of the Ascendancy family from day one.

But what excites me most isn't just the line-up.

It's the opportunity to help build something that people genuinely feel part of.

A festival where everyone is welcome.

A community where people look after one another.

A place where new artists are given the opportunity to grow, established artists can reconnect with passionate fans, and everyone can share unforgettable moments through the power of live music.

I know there's still so much for me to learn, and I'm excited to embrace every part of that journey.

I'll be bringing everything I have, my creativity, my experience, my passion and my drive. And I will help to shape Ascendancy not just as a fantastic festival, but a safe, welcoming and inclusive home for everyone who joins us.

To everyone who's supported me over the years through Heartwork, The Right Crew, Breaking Bands, the amazing people who welcomed me in and everything in between...

Thank you.

Your support, encouragement and belief in me has meant more than you'll ever know, and I can't wait to share this next chapter with all of you.

Here's to the future.
Welcome to Ascendancy.

And to finish off I have to say a huge thank you to Jay McGuire and Stacey for not only giving me some amazing opportunities to flourish, but also for supporting, believing and seeing the value in the skills I have to bring to the to the table.

To everyone Stay Awesome 🤘

Ascendancy Festival 2027 Announces The Wildhearts as Special Guests

Ascendancy Festival is proud to reveal a major wave of new artists joining the 2027 line‑up, strengthening the event and marking one of its biggest announcements to date.

Leading the reveal are The Wildhearts, joining Ascendancy as Special Guests for the festival’s inaugural year. One of the most influential and enduring bands in British rock, The Wildhearts have spent over three decades shaping the sound, attitude and spirit of the genre. Their catalogue spans era‑defining albums, cult classics and fan‑favourite anthems, all delivered with the unmistakable blend of melody, chaos and raw energy that has made them a cornerstone of the UK rock scene.

Renowned for their explosive live performances, The Wildhearts continue to command stages with the same fire, precision and unpredictability that earned them their legendary status. Their appearance at Ascendancy marks a major moment for the festival’s debut year, bringing heavyweight credibility and a true icon of British rock to the 2027 line‑up.

Festival Director Jay says:
“Of all the bands we’ve brought in over the years, having The Wildhearts at our first Ascendancy Festival is one we know will mean a lot to our regulars. And honestly, it means a lot to me too. It feels like a fitting moment for everyone who’s been part of this journey from Breaking Bands to Ascendancy.”

Mother Vulture Announced as Saturday Headliners
Ascendancy is also thrilled to confirm Mother Vulture as the Saturday night headliners on the Breaking Bands Stage. Known for their high‑energy performances and fast‑rising reputation, this will be their first ever appearance at Ascendancy.

Jay adds:
“Mother Vulture are one of the most intense bands on the circuit. Giving them a headline slot for their debut appearance says everything.”

Alabama Crow to Close Out Sunday Night
Following a strong public vote, Alabama Crow return to Ascendancy as the Vote‑Back Winners for 2027 and will close out the Sunday night on the Breaking Bands Stage.

Their slot sits perfectly between two major festival moments:

Special Guests The Wildhearts

Headliners Asomvel

Jay says:
“The vote‑back gives fans a voice, and Alabama Crow absolutely earned their place. Closing out Sunday night is a huge moment for them.”

Proudly Coming home to the Home of Heavy Metal
Ascendancy Festival also celebrates its arrival in Birmingham - the birthplace of heavy metal and the region that shaped generations of rock culture. As a Brummie himself, Festival Director Jay emphasises the importance of bringing Ascendancy back to where the genre’s roots run deepest.

Jay says:
“Bringing Ascendancy home to the Birmingham means everything to me. This region defined heavy music, and being able to build a festival here - for our community, our fans and our future - is something I’m incredibly proud of.”

A Strengthened Line‑Up for 2027
These new additions join Venom Inc, Asomvel, Breed 77, Glamour of the Kill, Marco Mendoza, Brave Rival, Blue Nation, Waterlines, N0trixx, Asleep at the Helm and more still to be announced.

Ascendancy Festival takes place 27–31 May 2027, delivering four days of live music, community and immersive experiences from the birthplace of heavy metal.

Tickets, Information and band applications from the website at https://ascendancyfestival.com
A £25 deposit option is also available.
