Jj's Garment Alterations Hi, my name is Megan and I'm the founder of Jj's Garment Alterations, a bespoke alterations company. I am available seven days a week and work all hours.

I studied at the University for Creative Arts, completing their fashion degree and have since gained valuable experience as a seamstress. I have a passion for fashion, detail and hard work I decided to set up my own business, to be able to build my own clientele that will always be able to rely on my high standard of work. I have always been interested in fashion, in particular where to buy clothe

s that are well made and customising items to make them unique and individual. After gaining experience as a seamstress, I feel that my real strength is in tailoring and alterations, I have experience in all forms of alterations ranging from formal dresses to curtains. I know this is a unique skill that a lot of people need and are after. No job is too big or small.

SEWING CLASSES NEW TO 2025:

I have decided to start offering sewing classes as i feel there is a massive gap in the market for classes based around learning how to do your own alterations.

These classes will focus specifically on alterations and before the course I will ask all 3 students the main areas they would like learn in the four sessions they will be attending. This way I can tailor the workshop so that students get the most out of the time in which they spend in the studio. Alterations can be anything from hem shortening to fitting invisible zips. Just remember that each alteration will take up a different amount of time. For instance to learn and insert an invisible zip would run over more than one 1.5 hour session, whereas a hem shortening would take one 1.5 hour session.

In addition, not all 3 people in one group of classes need to focus on a certain alteration. Everyone can focus on their own chosen alteration that they would like to learn. Each person on the course will get there own 1 on 1 time per week to go through what needs to be done at each step of learning and understanding how to do their own alteration.

I would advise everyone that attends the course to work on old clothes or clothes from a charity shop to work on as you are just starting out, bringing you best items of clothing wouldn’t be ideal as you will be the ones doing the alterations not myself.

These classes will be held in groups or 3’s.

The classes will run for 4 consecutive weeks.

There will be 2 options to begin with for times of classes. They will be held on a Friday. One session from 9.30am- till 11am the other session running from 12.30pm until 2pm.

Class prices will be £140 for the full 4 sessions of 1.5 hours. Once you have chosen to attend the morning or afternoon session these times cannot be changed throughout your course as these are separate course to book.

Payment will have to be made in full before the chosen course begins.

I wish I could be saying a Happy New year to all of my lovely clients but instead it seems that not much is changing in the months ahead. Unfortunately I am unable to take on any work currently but please remember that my phone is still on if anyone is in need, we are living in a hard time and people should not be worried about reaching out especially thoughs who are on there own. As of tomorrow, we will no longer be taking on any jobs until the beginning of December due to alterations being non- essential and the country locking down. I am so sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but can assure you that when we can be up and running again we will be happy to help with all alterations. In the mean time enquiries can be made and booking can be placed in the diary for the month of December on the basis that we are allowed back to work.

On another note I hope that all of you as my clients are doing well. Stay safe this next month! And if anyone is in need (food shortage/mentally struggling) my phone will be open to calls and will help in any way that I can.
