A beautiful view with tasty treats and a refreshing drink is just the ticket on ‘summer days’, the theme for today’s hosted by the fabulous Jane Elsie 🌸

A real piece of social history today!

An antique pair of 19th-century children’s clogs.

Handmade with leather uppers and wooden soles which have been reinforced with iron to protect the feet. Fastened with decorative metal clasps and soles shod with brass studs for extra durability.

Typically worn by young children working in industrial mills during the mid-1800s, you have to wonder who wore these and where did they work? What a tough life they must have had and not much of a childhood.

A piece of our industrial past you could pop on a shelf or next to a fireside to create a unique talking point.

These treasures have already left or about to leave Nod to Wales Vintage HQ in the next day or two after I’ve finished wrapping and packing this afternoon. So thank you again for helping to keep me busy!📦🚚

I love it all but my favourite has to be the wooden stool and the Alfred Meakin teapot which has a hand engraved pattern applied under the glaze…….just gorgeous.

Ok, so we’re in the midst of another heatwave and a welsh wool blanket may be the last thing on your mind! But who else agrees this is an absolute stunner?!

A huge (and heavy!) reversible vintage Welsh wool tapestry blanket in a striking colour way of black, red and yellow with a hint of cream. A signature design referred to as the ‘Navajo’ pattern from the Brynkir Mill near Porthmadog, North Wales which sadly is no longer in operation.

Rooted in centuries old Welsh textile traditions these blankets were meant to be loved and treasured and handed down as family heirlooms. Heavy, durable pieces traditionally given as wedding gifts or milestone presents designed to last a lifetime.

It still has its original label attached and is fringed down two sides. Measuring approx. 238 cms 226 cms and in wonderful condition. These blankets in this size, design, colour way and condition don’t come around too often!

Vintage blue and white Villeroy & Boch transfer ware serving platter. Part of their ‘Burgenland’ collection.
Measuring a generous 40 cms x 26 cms.
In lovely condition no chips, cracks or crazing.

Vintage welsh woollen tapestry purse with wrist strap. In nearly new condition.

Vintage Royal Winton “Pekin” hand painted preserve or sugar pot. Does have a large chip to the rim which isn’t noticeable with the lid on. Spoon included although it isn’t original to the pot.

One of my favourite finds this week was this beautiful tapestry roses cushion. So much so that I don’t think I want to sell it! Well at least not yet!

I guess that’s the perks of the job, getting to enjoy items before letting them go to be enjoyed by others.

So for now I’m just going to sit here in the sun for a little while and enjoy it, while I figure out what’s for tea!
