Many are upcycled designs on pre-loved knitwear which means they are totally unique and once they're gone, they really can't be fully replicated!

Please bear in mind also that the sizes mentioned are a rough guide- hand knitted garments are notoriously difficult to put into strict size brackets so please make sure to check the measurements I provide, and I am always happy to provide further photos and details before you make a purchase ❤️

Last spring when I was preparing to launch Purling Paws as a children's knitwear brand, I worked hard on a collection I am still very proud of to this day. As a selling platform, Etsy definitely made sense for me in the beginning while I felt the need to prove myself and establish a good reputation.

Lately, however, it has felt like a redundant part of my business. My very professional seamstress pal recently described me as being a social seller and I have decided to fully lean into that. I realised (when Googled what the heck that really means), that I have the luxury, through this wonderfully warm and encouraging community, of being able to connect with my customers and form some lovely friendly relationships. Especially with custom designs, it feels like such a natural and flowing process to share ideas, which leads me to sales that are so much more rewarding than seeing an item being sold through a 3rd party website.

Some of my sold items on Etsy never got any feedback which actually makes me really sad! But I do understand that at the end of the day a purchase is just a purchase.

ANYWAY. Shortly I will be uploading videos/photos of the available ready-made collection including size and price details. These will be available to browse on my page highlights and you can DM me to make a purchase 🥰

...well, it is the fact that they are all going to the same home!

For small businesses like mine, the biggest compliment is to have someone become a return customer...and I have been lucky enough to have Lauren discover me, and to keep coming back.

Since her first purchase of a Gruffalo jumper from my pre-made collection on Etsy, Lauren has since commissioned me to create not 1, not 2, not 3, but 5 additional sets for her little ones (Christmas designs still to come!) It has been an absolute pleasure.

Here is a little video I put together to celebrate the completion of my latest custom order- a send in up-cycle featuring a special birthday design for Remy 💚
It was a pleasure to work on this piece, as we have 3 lovely birch trees of our own (and like Remy, I get hypnotised by them too!) so I was lucky enough to study the distinctive look of the bark and the floaty leaves 🍃- as my first full tree, I hope you agree I captured it pretty nicely 🌳.
I loved doing the ducks and rabbits too...so basically I loved all of it! Can't wait to see it being worn ☺️
Now...onto the next...

Here it is friends: my magnum opus 😆

Imagine receiving this on your 4th birthday: a beautiful soft cotton cardigan, adorned with a design featuring your most special toys. Your mouse family are enjoying a picnic in the woods to celebrate, and your cuddly bunnies are there too. This is a piece of clothing that I am sure will be intensely loved and appreciated, and it has been made with the craftsmanship to last.

What an incredible gift to give to your daughter! (If I do say so myself 😋) I could feign modesty here but the truth is, I am ridiculously proud of this design as yes...I did get far too carried away perfecting every aspect of it as I went along. As this was an age 5-6 knit (for a tall, soon-to-be 4 year old) there was a lot of space to fill, and as a fellow mum of a soon-to-be 4 year old, I felt inclined to give this the care and attention I would for my own little girl. It took a lot of faith in myself to bring the initial sketch to life, from the early stages of crocheting the larger shapes, all the way through to the final embroidered details.

I just can't wait to hear how it is received by the birthday girl when the time comes 🥰

Earlier this year we lost our lovely girl Tiggy. The heartbreak has been lingering on and the house still doesn't feel quite right without her presence. She was a constant companion, the chattiest feline I've ever known. We felt so much love and affection from her, and her cuddles, suckling my dressing gown (she was such a big softie), and the joy she brought to all who met her are so deeply missed 💔

When I set up my business and decided to name it Purling Paws, she was my muse. Every time I picked up a ball of yarn she found it irresistible to join me, especially laid in our garden soaking up the sun. If she'd had opposable thumbs I'm sure she'd have been a wonderful knitter!

We love you Tiggy.
