Bullerbooks Beautiful, vintage, rare, curious, & collectable children's books... so I passed it on when I had children.

I used to have a beautiful but not very profitable bookshop in Kew:

It was an interesting time but I struggled to find the right people to share it with (I believe that's the way forward for small, independent, second hand bookshops: share it between four or five people so that everyone still has time to source rare & expensive boo

ks and go to book fairs etc.) Maybe one day I'll have a shop again but in the meantime I'm a collector. A collector of anything Jane Austen related and a collector of children's books.

I’m really pleased that more translated fiction is being published and read in the UK. A big change from when I came here nearly twenty years ago to study Publishing Studies.
I was then struck with how different the fiction habits were compared with Germany and Austria where I’d been a bookseller the previous four years. They’re missing out, I thought, by not looking much beyond fiction written in English.
I’ve found many of my favourite books were from other parts of the world ever since I fell in love with the Bullerby Children as a seven year old!
