I never realized how strong I was until I had no other choice than to be strong..
Stronger, in fact, than I ever knew that I was.
And I needed every ounce of that courage and strength to make it through the things that tried to take me down.
I had everyone cheering for me, people telling me that I could do anything, but when the bad stuff came at me, it was just me fighting those battles alone.
No one could go there for me and I knew that.
So, I did what I had to do and kept showing up, fighting harder and pushing myself.
If anyone would have told me that not only could I survive all the things I faced- but overcome them as well?
I wouldn’t have believed them.
But that’s the thing about having your back against the wall.
I dug deeper than I ever have, fought harder than I ever did and became more determined than I believed possible.
I wasn’t about to let all my dreams and hopes disappear because I failed and wasn’t willing to fight.
It was in those dark moments when everything seems to be crashing down that I learned who I was..
And just what I could do.
I didn’t just survive those hard times, I overcame them all and kept rising.
There were so many that never gave me a chance and that’s okay, I’m not doing it for them.
This life- these aspirations- they’re mine and for the people I love.
I don’t need approval to be a warrior and fighter.
I don’t need permission to crush my challenges and squash my obstacles…
Cause that’s what I’m doing.
One day, one mountain , one battle at a time.
Sure, there are plenty of good days mixed in there and I’m thankful for them all-
I’ve learned to appreciate the sunshine so much more because of the storms..
But when things get tough, I take a deep breath, strap on my armor and ready my sword.
Bring it on, life.
I’m stronger than I have ever been before.
I got this.
And I always will.
