business, founded in 1969, in Kastoria by Demetrios Afkos. “Afkos Furs” was one of
the first firms in that area, which managed to create a loyal and satisfied clientele
and rapidly expand in the Eastern European market by maintaining an excellent
quality in fur-manufacturing. Hermia was named after the female adjec

tive and name deriving from Hermes,
the Greek Olympian god of transitions, exchange and dreams, who could move freely
between the worlds of the mortal and divine and is also the name of one of the major
heroines in W. The name reflects
the company’s philosophy as well as its parent company’s, that is to maintain the
highest quality of its manufacturing processes and products unchanged through the
passage of time, despite any market presses to do otherwise. Hermia produces luxury handmade design fur products by using only certified and
high quality raw materials from the U.S. All of the products are manufactured in Kastoria and have an authenticity
certification from the Greek Fur Centre. By following the traditional way of processing and manufacturing fur and combining
it harmoniously with the modern skin processing techniques, Hermia achieves a
balance between the classic and the modern and its products are both timeless and
contemporary. Hermia specializes in custom made products such as Mink, Lynx, Sable, Chinchilla,
Fox and Swakara skins and has a family workshop that may fulfill any customer’s dream
in fur within moments. This becomes evident by Hermia’s superbly crafted wide range
