This dress draws from the bold spirit of the traditional costume of Karpathos, transforming its vibrant palette into neon 3D floral appliqués inspired by the sakofoustano of Olympos. A sculpted corset replaces the original bodice, while the long pleated skirt gives way to cascading n**e silk strips that move with fluid grace, subtly revealing the skin beneath. Each flower was meticulously applied by hand over the course of 40 hours. A pleated mini skirt overlay completes the look, offering a modern interpretation of the traditional silhouette. Presented at the Vorres Museum this spring as part of the Couture Grecque fashion project.

Inspired by the traditional attire of Astypalea, this dress merges local heritage with echoes of Byzantium, the East, and Venice. It retains the signature double skirt, reimagined in pleated silk taffeta in vivid orange and green, layered over hand-embroidered linen with intricate cross-stitch work. The kalierata-inspired sleeves, also in linen, part gracefully with movement, revealing glimpses of skin beneath over 200 hours of delicate embroidery. Presented at the Vorres Museum this spring as part of the Couture Grecque fashion project.

Inspired by the traditional bridal attire of Kastellorizo, this dress is crafted entirely from 100% silk duchess satin. It reinterprets the krepi shawl and zosma belt with cascading rows of pink glass beads in varying shades. Hand-drawn Byzantine motifs in red and white replace the stamped patterns of the original costume. Presented at the Vorres Museum this spring as part of the Couture Grecque fashion project.

COUTURE GRECQUE, TINOS

Introducing the next chapter of Couture Grecque, an ongoing photo and video project that exhibits the beauty of the Greek traditional costume, its timeless value and aesthetic, through modern pieces, each one inspired from a different region of Greece, celebrating the enduring beauty of Greece and its folklore with a modern twist.

The design is a sophisticated two-piece ensemble, featuring a silk corset in shades of sky blue and red, intricately hand-painted by a Spetsiot painter with delicate fish motifs. The highlight of this set is the mini skirt, requiring over 100 hours of meticulous craftsmanship. It is constructed from metallic wire, expertly welded together, and adorned with sumptuous sky-blue silk fabric. The fabric is artfully gathered and pleated to evoke the essence of the sea and its undulating waves. The inspiration behind this garment came from a 19th-century sketch depicting a girl from Tinos.

COUTURE GRECQUE, KARPATHOS

Introducing the next chapter of Couture Grecque, an ongoing photo and video project that exhibits the beauty of the Greek traditional costume, its timeless value and aesthetic, through modern pieces, each one inspired from a different region of Greece, celebrating the enduring beauty of Greece and its folklore with a modern twist.

The vibrant colors which are characteristic of the traditional costume of Karpathos have been transformed into 3D neon flowers, adorning a pattern reminiscent of the traditional costume from Olympos with its "sakofoustano." This stunning dress features a corset top and replaces the traditional pleated long skirt with custom-made n**e silk strips that flow elegantly with every movement, subtly revealing the skin and enhancing the vivid floral details. The flowers, each added by hand, took roughly 40 hours of work to complete. The ensemble achieves the illusion of the "sakofoustano" with a chic mini pleated skirt overlay.
