Happy Sunday! Here's a glimpse of what Sundays used to look like in Chichicastenango.⁠⁠
I took this photo on assignment for and I love the motion and also the two women on their cell phones - mainly because I feel like it so obviously places this in present day and therefore challenges peoples' potential desire to look at a scene like this and somehow relegate it to the past.

Some very unsafe but very satisfying fireworks in the central square of Nebaj York for December 7th's annual "Quema del diablo" aka burning of the devil.
Apparently, this christian tradition originally symbolized the virgin mary's triumph over the devil before the feast of the immaculate conception.
Now more broadly, families burn paper maché devils outside their houses to symbolize ridding all the bad from the previous year to start again afresh.
