Her Old Cardigan

This season draws inspiration from the Haenyeo, the women divers of Jeju Island. The Haenyeo live according to the rhythms of the tides, the weather, and their own bodies rather than the clock. Through each dive and return to the surface, they learn to navigate the balance between endurance and rest.

They never face the sea alone. Working in close cooperation, they care for one another and build enduring relationships founded on trust, mutual support, and shared responsibility.

What moves us most is their culture of intergenerational uplift. Knowledge, care, and responsibility are quietly passed from one generation to the next. Some carry more so that others may have the freedom to go further. It is a quiet yet powerful form of strength, expressed through generosity, protection, and continuity.

Throughout this collection, wool serves as its defining material. Knitwear becomes a metaphor for uplift—soft, resilient, and shaped by time. As it is worn, mended, and preserved, it carries traces of memory and care, reflecting the enduring connections between people. More than a material, wool embodies a gentle and lasting strength: an understated presence that continues to support, protect, and endure.

UPW FW 2027
INSIGHT COLLECTION

As the world accelerates in pursuit of efficiency, we choose to pause in the stillness of winter and turn inward.

More than the passing of a season, this collection is a knitwear exploration of Between Time and Timelessness—a reflection on the relationship between the flow of time and the enduring.

It is an invitation to rediscover the art of observation: to notice the fading light over distant mountains, embrace subtle shifts, and uncover the quiet beauty often concealed by the noise of everyday life. Imagination asks for stillness, for space, and for the freedom to let the unknown gradually take shape.

FLORENCE
Private Event

UPW is delighted to invite you to an exclusive preview of our Fall Winter 2027 Collection.

During the event, our Creative Director, Carlo Volpi, will present Between Time & Timelessness — Reflections on Winter, Cyclicality & Transformation, sharing the inspiration behind the season.

Alongside the collection presentation, UPW introduces the FW27 Insight Project, a collaborative exhibition featuring works by five emerging international artists:

Jiaqi Liao
Minju So
Mirey Demirci
Gaeun Lee
Holly Mills-Živanović

Working across fashion, textiles, sculpture, installation and material experimentation, their practices investigate themes of transformation, ritual, identity, memory and sensory experience.

Together, their works form an immersive environment where yarns and textiles become more than materials — they become vessels for atmosphere, emotion and reflection.

SHRINK
Designer: Xu Yilin
School: Zhejiang Sci-Tech University

“The project draws inspiration from childhood memories of wearing ill-fitting clothes, exploring the awkward and naïve bodily sensation created by garments that do not properly fit the body. At the same time, shrunken sweaters — caused by improper care and accidental washing shrinkage — present, in an unexpected physical way, the changing relationship between clothing and the body.
By combining the forms of ill-fitting garments and shrunken knitwear, the project connects the embodied memory of ‘childhood misfit clothing’ with the phenomenon of sweater shrinkage. Through knitwear, it reimagines and reconstructs the state of garments after accidental shrinking.
This design practice also reflects on the lifecycle of clothing, sustainable consumption, and the acceptance of imperfection in garments. Within the context of sustainable fashion and personalized consumption, shrunken clothing — traditionally regarded as ‘waste’ — can instead become a unique material with distinctive texture and potential for sustainable transformation.
This idea closely aligns with UPW’s philosophy of sustainable development through eco-conscious yarns. Both advocate for the cyclical use of resources, while encouraging greater attention toward the redesign, reuse, and sustainable circulation of ill-fitting garments.”
