Ranked No. 1 in the world 12 times, the Kellogg-HKUST Executive MBA is consistently at the top of its game. What truly sets it apart isn’t just prestige, it’s the people. Nearly half the cohort already hold C-suite or senior executive titles, making leadership at the highest level the norm. Ego, however, takes a back seat. Built around a selective yet humble community, the program thrives on its “high-impact, low-ego” ethos.

This ethos isn’t just talk. In this article, Prof. Francesca Cornelli, Dean of Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and Prof. Frederic Anseel, Dean of the Business School at HKUST, explain how this unique positioning has elevated the program to global recognition.

Students from the current KH29 cohort (Class of 2027), Maggie Li from Hong Kong and Michael Hangelmann from Spain, also bring unique perspectives from their roles as Chief Retail Operations Officer at Chow Sang Sang and Chief Executive at Eurovision Services, sharing real-life stories of how the program has influenced their leadership path.

Discover how the Kellogg-HKUST EMBA cultivates leaders who rise without posturing, and why collaboration, not isolation, is the secret to sustainable success.

A diamond of an experience!

What a privilege it was for the Kellogg-HKUST EMBA community to step inside the Chow Sang Sang Production Centre in Shunde, a rare opportunity made possible thanks to Maggie Li (KH29), Chief Retail Operations Officer at Chow Sang Sang.

Our students and alumni were granted exclusive access to three core centres at the heart of Chow Sang Sang’s operations:

● The Diamond Polishing Centre
● The Gold Jewellery Production Headquarters
● The Intelligent Fulfilment Centre

Knowledge shines in many forms, and this visit was a brilliant reminder that learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door. Through strong community ties, we continue to open doors to experiences that are as rare and valuable as the gems we witnessed.

Over 18 months, KH28 (Class of 2026) balanced demanding careers, family commitments, and rigorous studies to complete the Kellogg-HKUST EMBA. Their graduation in Hong Kong reunited classmates together once more, with many flying in from cities such as Beijing, Dubai, Ho Chi Minh City, and Singapore.

Behind every diploma was a story of with late-night discussions, missed family dinners, and moments of doubt. For the graduates, those sacrifices became stepping stones, and the vision that carried them through was strengthened by the friendships they built along the way. They now stand equipped with the confidence, leadership skills, and broader perspectives essential for navigating an increasingly complex world.

The Douro Valley in Portugal may seem an unlikely classroom for leadership, yet António Magalhães, its legendary winemaker, turned decades of experience into a philosophy that resonates far beyond the vineyard. His emphasis on resilience, careful listening, and patience lays out timeless principles that leaders can apply in any field.

Building on this perspective, Kellogg Prof. Sergio Rebelo — familiar to many of our students through his International Finance course in the Lisbon Global Elective and his co-leadership of the Kellogg Harvest Program — continues to highlight the modern leadership insights embedded in winemaking.

Read on to understand how the vineyard’s discipline shapes management practices that remain relevant today: https://insight.kellogg.northwestern.edu/article/what-a-legendary-winemaker-can-teach-us-about-leadership #!

We recently gathered to honor a proud yet bittersweet milestone — celebrating the graduating Class of 2026 (KH28) from the Kellogg‑HKUST EMBA Program.

These leaders may already be high‑flying senior executives, yet they dared to keep climbing. Even with demanding careers and family responsibilities pulling their time, they decided to pause, invest, and stretch themselves further. For 18 months, across 18 weekends and 4 full weeks, they poured over 420 hours into rigorous study, all to become stronger leaders of themselves.

That spirit of resilience and lifetime learning was echoed in the words of our guest of honor, Ms. Bonnie Y Chan, CEO of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX):

“In our careers, no matter how high we rise, we will continue to come across opportunities to take on roles that will stretch us. You will never be 100% ready. But I believe that by keeping an open mind, committing to continuous learning, and surrounding oneself with smart people, you'll be amazed at how much further you can go.”

Ms. Chan’s message was a powerful reminder that growth is a lifelong climb, one our graduates have already begun with courage and conviction.
One challenge conquered, many more ahead. We look forward to the bold ideas our graduates will champion, the teams they will inspire, and the impact they will make across industries and communities.

Congratulations again, KH28! The world is your stage, go rock it. 💜
