Where does art end, and fashion begin?

For NUBU, there is no clear boundary between the two. The form of a painting, the materiality of a sculpture, the texture of a ceramic piece or the rhythm of a graphic work can all become a starting point for a collection.

The retrospective exhibition at the Liszt Institute in Stuttgart brings together selected NUBU collections from recent years with the artworks that inspired them. Fashion, art and design meet in one space, revealing the process through which an idea becomes form, and form becomes a wearable expression of identity.

The exhibition invites us to look beyond the garments themselves, to discover the connections, inspirations and values behind them.

Last Tuesday, ART. FORM. IDENTITY. // RETROSPEKTIVE opened at the Liszt Institute in Stuttgart, an evening where fashion and fine art came together in dialogue.

NUBU’s collections from recent years met the paintings, sculptures, ceramics and graphic works that inspired them. The opening performance expanded this dialogue even further, bringing movement, form, material and the human body into connection.

For us, contemporary fashion does not exist within closed categories.
There are no boundaries between art and fashion.
No boundaries between form and thought.
And no boundaries in the way a garment can become an expression of identity.

The NUBU AW26/27 collection explores a new dialogue between art and fashion. The visual world of the collection is inspired by the work of painter Anna Peter Breton and glass artist Anett Biliczki, bringing together layers, textures, forms, light and material.

Artistic gestures are translated directly onto the fabric through hand-painted surfaces, raw textures and carefully crafted details, giving each piece a distinctive character. Here, painting is more than an inspiration, it becomes part of the material itself, taking on a new form through fashion.
