Tomorrow is Nyepi, the Balinese Saka New Year. ✨ A sacred day of stillness in the Balinese calendar where the whole island turns completely silent. No lights, no working, no one is allowed outside & there are no flights (in or out). The idea behind Nyepi is to cleanse the island of bad spirits & negativity. It is also a day to rest, reflect & set intentions for the year ahead.

With everything going on around the world right now ~ a day like Nyepi is something everyone could benefit from.

In the days leading up to Nyepi, Bali turns into a world of magic & ritual. This special moment was captured from our .home x terrace during the Melasti ceremony earlier this week.

Island Traders was created for women who choose a life beyond the norm. Women who rewrite the rules, chase big dreams, and follow what lights their soul on fire instead of what feels safe. Women inspired by the places they travel, the adventures they have, and the people they meet along the way.

Island Traders has always been about so much more than selling beautiful products that women would love. It was also about supporting local artisans & the women-led brands that were born in Bali. Many of which had no presence on the island & we knew that needed to change. Since launching in 2023, our partner list has grown significantly but the vision remains & building longterm partnerships is still at the core of what we do. Fast forward a few years, we are now a brand with our own stories to tell... Loved by women here in Bali & all over the world.

We have so much passion for brands with a story to tell; the ones led by inspiring, likeminded women. Those who are producing locally, slowly & giving back to our island community.

This year is extra symbolic as we move from the Year of the Snake into the Year of the Fire Horse ~ a rare cycle that comes around only once every 60 years! It’s said to bring vitality, passion, momentum & courage for the year ahead. 🔥🐎🌺

Chinese/Lunar New Year is a public holiday in Indonesia. Mainly due to the country’s large ethnic Chinese population but also due to Indonesia’s commitment to cultural diversity. What we love about Chinese New Year is that anyone, regardless of nationality/ethnicity, can celebrate the Lunar New Year. It is a widely inclusive, non-religious cultural holiday focused on family, food & new beginnings. 🥹

Here’s what to wear to harness the ‘Fire Horse’ energy:
