Hackney Half Marathon ✅

Struggling to put into words how much this actually means to me. My sister and I set ourselves a postpartum goal after having our babies — to run the Hackney Half Marathon. There were so many days where both of us genuinely thought we wouldn’t even make it to the start line. Sick babies, long runs going out the window, broken sleep, little injuries creeping in after over a year on the sidelines… we doubted ourselves a million times.

But the 17th of May rolled around and somehow we were in somewhat okay-ish shape to take on the race 😂

One huge learning for me through all of this was how important strength training really is, and I fully believe it’s one of the main reasons I was able to get across that finish line. I also had to work incredibly hard on my nutrition. I went from surviving on sugar and caffeine trying to cope with exhaustion after nights of broken sleep, to completely changing the way I was eating and working on it consistently every single day.

The only way I was able to navigate that was with the help of the absolute best in the business, 🤍 Before working with Kat, I had no confidence in how to fuel myself while exclusively breastfeeding and also trying to get back into some sort of shape so I could start doing the things I loved again. She gave me all the tools I needed to reach my goals and I’ll genuinely be forever grateful to her for helping me through what was a really difficult stage of postpartum for me.

I really don’t want this post to come across as bragging in any way, but I do feel like giving myself a big hug and saying: you should have believed in yourself from the start instead of convincing yourself you’d never be able to run this distance again.

I also have to say — this wasn’t either mine or my sister’s first time running this distance. We both had experience before babies, and honestly, running 21km postpartum is no joke 😅 We did both agree afterwards that maybe a 10km would have been a slightly less stressful goal.

To any new mums out there feeling like themselves again feels very far away right now — it does get better 🤍
