If I ever have the chance to start a yoga club, I think I would call it the Stiff & Rusty Club.

A place for people who are not naturally flexible.
A place for people whose hamstrings feel like old ropes.
A place for people who creak a little when they get up from the floor.

Because life needs both Yin and Yang.

We need strength.
We need flexibility.
We need to practice the things that don't come naturally to us.

Sometimes that means doing a little more of what we're not good at, simply because it is good for us.

Use a yoga block.
Use a strap.
Bend your knees.
Sit on a cushion.

If you can't touch your toes, that's perfectly fine.

The goal is not to impress anyone.

And when you look at the person on the mat beside you, look at them for inspiration.
Look at them for motivation.

But never for comparison.

Your body is different.
Your journey is different.
Your practice is different.

Be kind to your body.
Be patient with yourself.

Progress doesn't always look graceful.
Sometimes it looks a little stiff and rusty.

And that's okay too.
