Autumn incoming. One of our new autumn shirts. Trouser wise I’m seeing this one with denim light or dark, grey flannel….perfect, navy chino also on the way or some soft needle corduroy following shortly after the chino.

Friday, and taking a look at the style of Lord March, Duke of Richmond and host of the Goodwood motor festivals which were started by his grandfather back in 1948.
We think his style is beautifully polished and understated.
The tortoiseshell glasses, the classic suits, the ties…(ties are dead) no they’re not…the leather shoes and of course for us….the shirts. Whites, blues, stripes….perfect.
Flicking through photos, you notice he wears a lot of the same stuff just in different ways and for different occasions proving yet again that to have an elegant polished and classic style doesn’t have anything to do with seasonal trends. A wardrobe filled with great core well made pieces will do the work for you and should last you a long time.

Scotch grain and linen. Not a normal pairing but it works…..I think.
Scotch grain, or pebble grain leather is more of a heavy wearing leather normally used for country style boots and shoes which you would normally associate with Autumn/Winter, but these Crockett & Jones Boston Country Calf, paired with summer linen and chinos works equally well.
Ditch the rules.

The Olive situation.

This comment was left with us recently regarding our linen shirts. It immediately caught my attention as there’s a lot going on in here.
It begins by referencing how the shirts get better the more you wash and wear them, something that’s very important to us through all our shirts as they take on a look and character of their own. It then goes on to mention some brands, that let’s be honest, are great brands and around a good deal longer than we are so to be mentioned in the context that we have been mentioned is a serious compliment. And then towards the end, the reference to our linens being a bit looser than our other shirts. This is exactly how we wanted our linens to be. Cool and comfortable and made for the climate they are intended to be worn in.

The Olive colour in particular is great. It’s as much a masculine colour as it is feminine and great for that slouchy relaxed look.
