DUA

DUA Founded in 2015, DUA work on a broad range of projects covering a variety of scales and functions. Founded by Darragh Breathnach in 2015.

DUA - Design Urbanism Architecture is located in Dublin, Ireland. We believe in high quality holistic design where materiality, detail design and the needs of the client are intimately connected. We have worked on a broad range of projects covering a variety of scales and functions. This includes Product Design, Furniture Design, Exhibition Design, Residential, Commercial, Cultural Buildings and M

asterplanning. We feel architecture should be contextual, experiential and material focused involving as many of the senses as possible and not merely visual or restrained by pre-conceived conventions. We can provide a full scope of services from inception right through to completion. If you have a project you would like to discuss, please get in touch.

- Observation 01 -

Looking back through projects completed over the past 10 years, I noticed the same question appearing again and again.

What if one element could do more than one thing?

- Bear Market Roastery -

Completed a number of years ago, but only recently added to the DUA website. Looking back at the project, it’s interesting to see many of the ideas that continue to shape our work already beginning to emerge.

Located within a decommissioned church, the project transforms a former place of worship into a working coffee roastery. A family of bespoke stainless steel interventions—including counters, shelving and signage—establishes a contemporary architectural language while allowing the character and scale of the existing building to remain central to the experience.

Rather than competing with the historic fabric, the new insertions are designed as a distinct layer, bringing together architecture, furniture and fabrication into a coherent whole.

The full project is now live on our website.

- Cúl an Tí -

An extension that redefines the relationship between house and garden through light, materiality and carefully composed views.
Working with corten steel, timber and glazing, the project creates a series of spaces that connect architecture, landscape and furniture.
