Ever wonder what goes into a scarf design?
It’s easy to see the finished product, but the journey there takes days, weeks, and sometimes months.
For this multi-stripe design, it all started with moodboards, research, and felt-tip markers.
I chose markers specifically to give this graphic print a beautiful, hand-drawn texture and a crafted feel.
After days of drawing and tweaking by hand, it moved to Photoshop for digital refining. From there, the artwork was sent to Como, Italy, for sample printing before finally being approved for production.
Seeing it printed onto silk is always the magic moment—the vibrancy and texture completely bring it to life.

From the archive: The original blueprint for Tidings.

This mood board was the starting point for our brand identity. It brings together the core elements of our storytelling ethos: the literal tide, ripples in the water, light catching antique glass, and a real message in a bottle.

It also features the vintage wax-sealed stamps that directly inspired our custom monogram. It’s a reminder that every piece in our collection today is rooted in history, craftsmanship, and intention. 🤍

The inspiration behind Tidings happened very organically, while out on a walk just like this one, I stumbled across a message in a bottle washed up by the tide.

That moment gave the brand its name and its double meaning: “tidings” as the messages we share, and the physical “tide” that carried it in.

Today, those stories are woven directly into our silk scarves and art prints. My daily coastal walks are still where I clear my mind and find the focus for my designs. Here’s a little glimpse of the place where it all begins.

At its heart, Tidings is built on messages carried in by the tide. For me, that inspiration is personal. It comes from my time spent on the Irish coast—a place that helps me clear my head and brings out the creativity behind my designs.
