Tomorrow, a bill to ban fox hunting comes before the Dáil.
For me, this isn’t abstract politics — it’s personal.

My home is Poulawaddra Rua Poll an Mhadra Rua — the fox hole or the fox’s den in our own language.
This land carries memory. The fox has always lived here, long before borders, landlords, or imported “sport.”

Fox hunting in Ireland is not an ancient native tradition. It arrived with colonial rule — a blood sport of the Ascendancy, imposed on land that was never theirs, treating our wildlife as disposable and our countryside as a playground.

Our relationship to land was never about domination.
It was about coexistence, reverence, and responsibility.

Protecting the fox is about more than one animal.
It’s about rejecting colonial attitudes toward land and life.
It’s about choosing care over cruelty.

Tomorrow matters.
For the foxes.
For the land.
For us.

My latest ceramic series explores the transformation of the icon of Mary—fragmented, rebuilt, and reimagined. Through these forms, I’m reflecting on the ever-evolving strength of motherhood: how it endures, breaks, rebuilds, and passes forward. Each piece is a tribute to the generational resilience of mothers, and the quiet power that lives in those who came before us.
