'The Curse Of The Last Nappy'

Online, I see so many parents sharing hacks to help reduce the stress of those first few months. Recently, I saw a video of a new dad running to the shop at 9 PM because he realised he only had one nappy left. That feeling of panic is just awful.

And you know how it goes - the one time you run out completely is always the exact same night your little one has a blowout so bad that it takes the two of you just to sort them out! It’s like it’s written in the stars.

However, with EcoKinly reusable nappies, you can kiss that last-minute panic goodbye for good. You’ll always have a clean, ready-to-use stash on hand, no matter what time of day it is.

Nappy Maths: the cost of single use nappies

When you’re starting a family, there are so many factors to consider, but for most of us, the budget is the biggest one. Cutting costs wherever you can is an absolute must!

The biggest drain? Single-use products: the wipes, the nappies, the swim nappies, and the training pull-ups. It all adds up so quickly over such a short period of time. By the time your little one is potty trained at around age three, a massive chunk of your money has literally been thrown in the bin after just one use.

With EcoKinly, everything that was once single-use is now washed and reused for years to come. You buy them once and use them throughout all of your children’s first few years.

Click the link in our bio to learn how you can stop throwing your money straight in the bin!

Myth: Reusable nappies mean you won’t be able to dress your baby. That is not true at all!

While it's true that reusable nappies are a bit bulkier, I know the fear of not being able to dress your little one because of that ‘fluffy bum’ is something that turns a lot of parents off. But for us, more bulk just means more protection!

And when it comes to dressing them, there are loads of ways to cover up that fluff. From skirts, dresses, and jumpsuits to tracksuits, leggings, and trousers - the list goes on and on.

Plus, personally, I think with all the gorgeous prints, a reusable nappy is a fashion statement all on its own!

Are EcoKinly Reusable Swim Nappies more hassle? It's one of the questions we get asked most often about our swimmers and the answer is very simply no.

Using an EcoKinly Reusable Swim Nappy is very similar to using a disposable swimmer. You put it on before your little one gets in the water and take it off when they're finished.

The biggest difference between them, is instead of throwing it away after one use and buying over and over, you simply rinse it, wash it, and it's ready for a another day at the beach!

Just one simple product that can be used again and again throughout the swimming season.

Once you've used one a few times, it quickly becomes second nature.

And with this amazing weather we have been having, buying a new pack of swim nappies should be the least of your worries!

Thinking about trying reusable period pads but not sure where to start?

The good news is that you don't need to completely change your routine. In fact, a beginner-friendly reusable routine is surprisingly simple.

Use your reusable pad as you normally would throughout the day. When it's time for a change, simply store it in a wet bag until you're ready to wash.

Then it's just a case of rinse, wash, dry, and reuse.

That's it. No complicated routines. No fancy equipment. Just a simple swap that can easily fit into everyday life.

Many people start with just one or two reusable pads alongside their usual products before gradually building their confidence. There is no right or wrong way to make the switch.

If you are looking to make the switch to reusable period products, head over to EcoKinly.com to get your starter kit!

At first glance, reusable nappies can look like they have a lot going on. Different layers, different materials, different features...it can feel a little overwhelming when you're new to them.

But that's exactly why we designed EcoKinly reusable nappies to be as simple as possible.

All of the absorbent layers are built into one easy-to-use nappy, meaning there are no separate inserts to stuff, no complicated assembly, and no extra pieces to keep track of.

Just grab it, put it on your little one, and carry on with your day.

EcoKinly Reusable Wipes are one of the easiest swaps you can make.

A pack of single-use wipes can disappear in a matter of days, especially when you have little ones running around. Nappy changes, sticky hands, messy faces, dirty highchairs they never stop!
And every time you run out, it's another pack to buy.

Reusable wipes are different. Once you've got your set, you can wash them and use them again and again for years to come.

When you compare that to constantly replacing single-use wipes, those small purchases start to add up surprisingly quickly.

Sometimes it's the simplest swaps that make the biggest difference to your pocket.

Myth: Reusable nappies smell.

Fact: All nappies smell. That’s just part of having a baby!

One of the biggest misconceptions about reusable nappies is that they leave your home smelling unpleasant. But the reality is that dirty disposable nappies smell too.

The secret is how you store them.

Just as you would put a used disposable nappy into a nappy bin, reusable nappies should be stored in a designated wet bag or nappy bin until wash day.

After 2–3 days, simply empty the contents into the washing machine and they’re ready to be cleaned and used again.

And if we’re being honest, I’d much rather have a wet bag of nappies waiting for a wash than a bin full of disposable nappies sitting around until collection day!

Have you heard this myth before?

When you realise just how long it can take for a single disposable nappy to break down, it's easy to understand why sustainability has become such an important conversation.

This isn't about frightening anyone or making anyone feel guilty. The reality is that when disposable products first became popular, nobody could have predicted the impact they would have on our world decades later.

The good news is that we know more now, and that means we can make different choices if we want to.

Choosing reusable products is one small way to reduce the amount of waste we create, without completely changing our lifestyle.

And the best part? It doesn't have to be all or nothing. Every reusable nappy, reusable wipe, or reusable period pad helps reduce the number of single-use products heading to landfill.

Small swaps might not feel like much on their own, but when lots of families make them, they soon add up.
