The next 24 hours are not scary—they are sacred. A gift to speak directly to our Creator.

Yom Kippur is so much more than fasting, going to shul, or leaving our luxuries behind. It’s about surrendering, looking deep within, asking forgiveness, and asking Hashem to seal us for life—but what kind of life?

I have witnessed so much tragedy, and just yesterday, we lost a beloved leader in our community, Hacham Leon. In the blink of an eye, everything can change. These moments remind us how little control we truly have and how deeply we need to cherish every blessing, every person, and every moment.

On Yom Kippur, our fate is sealed. We don’t know Hashem’s plan, but we can trust Him and use these precious hours to come closer, reflect, and pray with all our hearts.

Hashem, hear our prayers. Forgive us. Protect our families. Give us health, purpose, peace, and another year to become who You created us to be.

I’m praying for you today even stronger than I’m praying for myself.

G’mar Chatimah Tovah. May we all be sealed in the Book of Life. 🤍

If you have ever lost a parent, you may understand this: time doesn’t always make the loss smaller. Sometimes we simply grow old enough to understand how great the loss really was.

People say time heals, but 37 years without my daddy has taught me something different. With every milestone—marriage, motherhood, watching my children grow—I miss him in new ways. I understand him more, and I understand more deeply everything he is not here to see.

A week ago today, I marked the 37th yahrzeit of my father, Walter Kairy A”H. Even after all these years, the stories still find me. When someone asks who my father was and I say his name, I wait for their face to light up as they tell me about his chesed, his love for Torah, or something he quietly did for another person. For a moment, my daddy is back in the room.

My father taught me something I hope to pass on to my children: we spend so much of life watering the flowers because flowers are what people see. My father watered the roots. Torah, chesed, family, character—what we do when nobody is watching. Flowers fade. Roots remain.

That is also why I share here—not to impress or create comparison, but to inspire all of us, including myself, to improve and live with more purpose.

Daddy, what an honor it is to be your daughter.

At the end of our lives, it will matter far less what people saw than what we planted. Water your roots so deeply that generations after you are gone can still grow from them.

Life doesn’t come with a manual. It comes with a mother—and I am so grateful that I get to be yours.

Before I ever held you in my arms, I carried you beneath my heart. And even now, no matter how much time passes or how tall you grow, you will always live inside my soul. That is something that will never change.

More than anything, I want you to be strong and capable. I want you to trust yourselves, to stand on your own feet, and to walk confidently into the world. I want you to chase your dreams, make your own choices, and discover who you are meant to be.

But I also want you to always know this: I am here.

Not to rescue you from every challenge—because life will teach you things I cannot—but to stand beside you when you need me. To listen. To support you. To show up when it matters most. And to love you in a way that never wavers, no matter where life takes you.

You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to have all the answers. You just have to be you.

If there is one thing I hope you carry with you always, it’s this: the kind of love you feel from me is something you can build within yourselves. Be kind. Be strong. Be compassionate. Be proud of who you are.

And if one day you think of me, I hope it’s not just as your mother—but as someone who loved you so deeply that it helped you become everything you were meant to be.
