Jacket making part 2.
Sewing the waist section to the top and bottom sections, joining all the lining, making the sleeves, gathering the sleeve at the shoulder and joining to the arm hole. Sewing on the fabric covered buttons and hand sewing the lining to the outer fabric in areas that take more stress like the collar and waist. Lastly taking out all the tailors tacks (thread) that was stabilising and holding fabric together while I constructed it. Phew ! Jackets take time but its satisfying when you are finished 😌

Design and making of a jacket part 1. The designing and redesigning, it was so fun to dream and come up with different ideas. Then altering the bodice block I had made to have all the design features I had designed. Cutting the pattern pieces and starting to sew sections together. Normally I would sew all the lining together and all the outer fabric and then join them, but because of the weight of the pleating fabric at the back and a little complicated waist section I did it a little differently and did it in sections. Last photos show the front and back of the outer fabric for a bound button hole which is often used in jackets and coats.

Creativity - its all connected . I've been studying graphic design online and was recommended adobe colour a free tool that helps you find good colour combinations. Through exploring I came up with the mix of colours I used in the embroidered collar and also played with making some geometric patterns or maybe future prints for fabric.
