Overlock stitches are the work-horse of high quality knitwear making. Knit fabrics are stretchy and their raw edges can fray. They need a sewing technique that can stretch with the fabric and also prevent fraying. Overlocks are a complex stitch of 4 or 5 threads, with 2 of them criss-crossing over the panel edges to provide flexibility and protect the raw edges.
