Not everything stands out immediately.

This Sumac weave carpet, hand-knotted in jute, is one of those pieces you begin to notice over time, through its texture, its surface, the way it settles into a space.

There are a few things people inside the industry notice almost immediately in a handmade carpet.

The back.
The colour variation.
The way the pile responds to light and touch.

Most people just never really get told what to look for.
