"We design, We create, We Sale, We share" With the aim to celebrate International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development, a platform for local artisans of Kutch is created who deserves more promotions, appreciations and encouragements with very unique concept and contributions by random people from all over the world. This is an attempt to unite enthusiastic and genuine artisans of Kutch and

help them grow themselves. The project was initially financially fueled by Return to Stranger (a gratitude experiment done by Jessica)

The Real Makers are still not recognised. WHY?

Because they are not Famous Enough?

Because they don't have Fancy Shops?

Because they are not on Social Media?

Because they are not mentioned in your Guidebooks or Websites?

Because they don't have time or money to promote themselves?

Because they haven't won any Awards yet?

Because they are not part of the Mega Events, Exhibitions or other gatherings?

Because they don't speak English?

Because they don't directly work with famous Designers and Labels?

Because they are working for their "Master Exploiters" and have no time to create their own products?

Because they don't have enough Fashion or modern Designing Education?

The list could go on and on...

One More Reason behind all of these ABOVE REASONS is that "For Many Selfish, Greedy, Smart, Ignorant, Famous or Careless People (whether they are Businesses or Individual Customers),
The REAL MAKERS DON'T MATTER MUCH as long as their HANDICRAFTS or TEXTILES DEMANDS and SUPPLY NEEDS ARE MET"

Bitter Truth behind the POST COLONIAL CAPITALISM AND EGO CENTRIC WORLD we live in. Where some people don't even think before bombing countries and many of us are helplessly mourning and watching.... And here we are talking about Recognizing the real makers, producers? What?

Read it again if it doesn't reach you deeply. And Decide for yourself what you can do? What difference can you make in this world?
If not now then when?
If not you then who?

Because Each Life Matters and so
Each artisan matters.

Jat Garasiya is a pastoral community living in Kutch who also are engaged with farming. They usually do embroidery without any sketches or markings and use directly needle and threads on a very particular style of cotton fabrics following their traditional motifs, designs and colours.

Empowered Woman. Bhachiben Rabari.
It's rare when Bhachiben hasn't called in a week to check whether she can get any order for Quilting or Embroidery.

It's a pity that we don't always have enough work to continue supporting our team and not enough means to keep investing in products just to keep them going. But we are trying our best.

Nearly after a month of no work, no spinning wool or stitching quilts, Bhachiben is given handwoven organic cotton stoles to embroider on it to make it more appealing. Soon you will see what she has done

So proud of our team United Artisans of Kutch for bringing traditional hand embroidered and hand stitched cotton bags back. 🤩

Each tote bag is made by one of these Rabari women who have independently styled using a bit of applique work, quilting stitch with diamond stitch and using traditional Rabari style motifs.

Size: more or less similar.approx. (36cm x 44cm)

Time it takes: to make 8-10 days. *They work on this when they are free from everyday household responsibilities.

Only 4 bags are in stock..2 more bags will be available in few days.

What a great day for our little team of United Artisans of Kutch to meet the Member of Parliament Vinod Chavda and share our stories and crafts directly with him.😊

He was pleased to receive a replica of hand embroidered Gandhiji that he immediately placed an order to make a similar piece dedicated to the Prime Minister and his late mother. Besides that he also placed an order to weave a Woven Rug representing Kutch to encourage our team members. 🌿😊🙏

It turned out to be a memorable visit for our entire team.

As Mahatma Gandhi ji said "Be the Change that you wish to see in the world", We will continue to give Voice to the lesser known artisans of Kutch, the real makers.

Thanks to everyone out there for standing by us in one or another way.
