Our company, Swadeshi, was established Post-Independence in 1960 as a small handloom fabrics manufacturer that supplied almost exclusively to the domestic market. The name was chosen to clearly symbolize our desire to use high quality pure Indian cotton. It was nearly a decade later, in 1970, that we established ties with Austria, commenced export operations and focused on manufacturing garments.
Over the next several years, Swadeshi gradually forayed into the home furnishings market, and exited the garment trade. Since inception, we have grown from a small manufacturing unit to one of the largest handloom manufacturers and exporters in India. By employing the traditional skills of the Indian weaver, capitalizing on the talents of our dye-masters and master-weavers, and utilizing our vast experience in fabric designs, colours and textures, we have woven sophisticated and innovative products for our customers across the globe. From supplying a single customer in Austria in the 1970s, Swadeshi has expanded its client network to include the following regions:
Canada, United States, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, United Kingdom, China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand
Swadeshi is privileged to be recognized for its excellence in handloom exports, and is the recipient of several awards from the Handloom Export Promotion Council of India (HEPC). Presently, Swadeshi seeks to further strengthen existing ties with its business partners and customers, as well as endeavor to enhance its production capabilities and geographical spread to emerging markets in Eastern Europe and South America.
