A saree doesn’t begin directly at the loom. Long before the first thread is woven, there are hands that prepare the yarn - with patience, precision & years of practice.

Smt. Arati Bhar has been preparing yarn for almost 60 years. The work demands concentration, patience and immense physical effort. Yet, much of it happens quietly, away from the spotlight.

She represents thousands of women whose invisible labour keeps the tradition of handloom alive. Every saree has a story. Likewise, every thread has a pair of hands behind it.
