Originating in the Khatri community of Gujrat nearly 5000 years ago, the ancient art of 'Bandhni' was derived from the word 'Bandhan' which literally translates to tying up. Creating this beautiful Bandhani Saree in hues of blue was fun. We started by folding a white organic cotton saree in several halves, closely followed by a rigorous tying session. Instead of opting for synthetic or plastic ropes, we used jute ropes which were a great option sustainably and logically. Then, we dyed the tied saree with organic colors made of fresh flowers (aparjaita, lilac, lavendar, gulmohar) from our garden.
