In this fast-paced world of machine made produce, the handmade industry is struggling to grow to its full potential. Therefore, The Color Caravan, a social enterprise based in India, supports traditional artisans, sustains indigenous craft skills, while empowering rural women. Paving the way for not only a better future for these communities but also an opportunity to wow the world with all the un
iqueness that handmade truly has to offer. Launched in 2010, The Color Caravan started with partnering with independent craftspeople, SHGs & NGOs to co-create products and help bridge the gap between artisans and the global market, thereby reviving the handicrafts as well as livelihood. For the first 5 years, we created a variety of ethically made handcrafted products with artisans from more than 8 states of India & sold them in both domestic & international mkt. Scattered production not only made quality control a challenge but also increased our overheads. Eventually, in Sept 2016, The Color Caravan moved its operations to Himachal Pradesh to 'start from the scratch' & has been working on the following since then:
THE WOOL FOLK PROJECT
The Wool Folk Project is a sub-brand of The Color Caravan. It is an initiative to empower the mountain community, primarily women, in a small Indian Himalayan village by upgrading their skills and providing them employment. Starting with three women in 2016, currently about thirty women and two men work with the initiative using skills like hand knitting, crochet, hand carding, hand spinning, natural dyeing. Your purchase helps them earn an income, which brings a positive change in their lives. KALA JAMGHAT
