Our Story
Amaria under our registered brand AriaEthnic® of specially designed and woven Indian handloom sarees. It was founded in 2016 with an aim to uplift the handloom industry, especially the rare looms of the north-eastern region. With its online platform, it has been serving customers in India as well as globally. Due to its massive success, it has been able to bring in real and positive impact upon the lives of the rural weaving communities across the country.
However, Amaria's heart always yearned for Manipur as its founder Amy Aribam knew how pertinent it is to carry forward the rich legacy of Manipuri weaves, especially in the lack of exposure to mainstream Indian and global markets. Operating solely on the objective to economically uplift and empower the women weavers of Manipur, Amaria relocated to Imphal in early 2019 from its base in Gurgaon, NCR.
It aspires to work with the various communities of Manipur by building community-based saree and textile production in an effort to revive the legacy of weaving the Manipuri and tribal women are known; and present them towards a global audience which is hungry to adorn traditional-yet-elegant sarees. Amaria has always believed in the adage, “when you uplift one woman, you uplift an entire family”.
