Sassy Drapes, Sacred Vibes & Saree Swag! 💁‍♀📸

We're turned the ancient temple of Bengarupeta into a runway of tradition and style! 🌸✨

Women from weaver households struck a pose in their handloom best, joined by fab students from IIHT for a day full of loom love, learning, and lens-worthy moments. 🧵💫

Master Weaver SriLakka Srinivasalu Garu (our Sant Kabir Awardee!) and Principal Giridhar Garu also shared stories that weave generations together. 🗣

Because handloom isn’t just heritage — it’s a whole damn mood 💃

A very happy handloom day!

SOUND: Ever wondered what a handloom sounds like? 🎧

Experience the authentic sound of weaving — the rhythmic beats of spinning, dyeing, sorting threads, and weaving that bring every handcrafted saree to life.

This isn’t just textile work — it’s the music of Indian craftsmanship, echoing tradition, culture, and the heart of our weavers.

🎵 Listen till the end for a sweet surprise.

Let this reel take you through the journey of making a 100% handwoven saree.

Step into a tale of craftsmanship that began in the early 1700s, under the patronage of the Velugoti dynasty of Nellore—when Venkatagiri became a hub for exquisitely woven cotton sarees once reserved for royalty. These sarees, celebrated for their lightweight texture, jamdani motifs, and gold-silver zari borders, remain timeless symbols of elegance.

Today, in Busapalem (adjacent to Venkatagiri), artisans who once prepared yarn using rice starch, coconut and neem oils—called sizing, a pre-process integral to weaving of the kora sarees are coming back to their roots with the efforts of our Project Manager .

Swipe to see the process: Original rice-starch sizing, yarn prepared by Busapalem families, and the skilled hands returning them to life.
