‘Sid-Hast’ literally translated means ‘skilled-hand’ and skill is what we aim to promote. Sidhast aims to promote ethnic Indian handicrafts in a contemporary market in order to ensure the sustenance of waning Indian traditions that have been in place for centuries and are now slowly disappearing as India moves to a more westernized worldview and the younger generation of artisan families find carr
ying the tradition forward not worthwhile. Keeping this in mind Sidhast strives to promote craft traditions not by aid but by trade by giving work, dignity and enrichment to hundreds of skilled and unskilled people - most of them living in remote villages in the comfort of their homes and environment. We combine global awareness with the natural instinct and skill of some of the most prolific Indian artisans and craftsmen all over the country in order to make products that are appealing in any market. Sidhast products are ethical and eco-friendly. It uses more of ‘ people energy ’ as the products are handwoven and handcrafted, rather than ‘artificial energy’ in its making. Sidhast products are made by the skillful hands of several artisans, thus carrying forward and bringing to you a part of their tradition and heritage , a story of their lives and lives of their ancestors. Sustainability is not just about the environment and reducing poverty; it is also about making the traditional crafts, knowledge and expertise sustainable in today's context.
