Dears members,

On behalf of our association we thank each and every members for your generous contribution to the kerala flood relief.
So far we have collected 2250 bedsheets and 1650 towels till date and sending to kerala through karur collector office.

Due to the continues efforts of the Karur Weaving and Knitting Factory Owners Association Ltd. for the past 6 months, we have been able to exempt all kind of job work related to textiles and all kind of fabrics from generation of e way bill with in tamilnadu.

Yesterday 28.03.2018, office bearers of The Karur weaving & knitting factory owners association, Karur handloom export cloth manufacturers association and Erode cloth manufacturers association met Dr. T.V Somanathan, Principle Secretary / comissioner of Commercial Taxes, govt. Of Tamil nadu with the help of our Hon'ble Transport Minister, Thiru M.R. Vijayabasker at Chief Secretariat, chennai.
We requested the comissioner of Commercial Taxes to exempt generation of e-way bill for movement of Textile goods with in Tamil nadu.
The commissioner explained us that the intra state e way bill will not be implemented immediately and no intra state e-way bill is required until further notification.

We also requested the comissioner to consider the complexity in our business and to exempt atleast the intra state e-way bill for textile job works as a permanent solution.

He understood our issues and spoke very positively.

Today, office-bearers of KARUR TEXTILE ASSOCIATIONS met
• Thiru O. Panneerselvam, Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister & Finance Minister,
• Thiru M. R. Vijayabhaskar, Hon'ble Transport minister,
• Thiru D. Jayakumar, Hon'ble GST Council Member and
• Dr C. Chandramouli, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary / Commissioner of Commercial Taxes at Chennai Chief Secretariat.

We submitted our memorandum requesting to relax the Intra state E-Way bill formalities to safeguard the interest of MSME Sector.

Job work services in respect of the textiles and textile products (including
MMF yarn, garments, made-ups, etc. falling in Chapters 50 to 63)
has come down to 5% which was 5 to 18% earlier.

Today (02.08.2017) we met Shri Santosh kumar Gangwar, Hon'ble minister of state for finance at his office in North Block, New Delhi. We had a pro active discussion with hon'ble minister and secretaries regarding the impact of GST on powerloom sector. Then we met Shri. M. Thambidhurai, Hon'ble deputy speaker, lok sabha and requested him to guide us in this issue. Hon'ble deputy speaker immediately arranged meeting with Hon'ble Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley and Hon'ble union Textile Minister Smt. Smriti Irani at House of Parliament. Hon'ble Deputy speaker accompanied with us in all the meetings and emphasised hon'ble union ministers to reschedule the GST levied on powerloom products and job works associated with it.

Yesterday (01.08.2017) with the help of hon'ble transport minister Shri M.R. Vijayabaskar, we managed to meet hon'ble finance minister & GST council member of Tamilnadu Shri D. Jayakumar, hon'ble commercial tax minister K.C Veeramani and Dr. C. Chandramouli, Addl. Chief Secretary & commissioner, commercial tax at Chennai secretariat. We requested Tamil Nadu government to represent issues regarding powerloom sector in the upcoming GST council meeting which is be held on August 5.
