Suhagwanti Saigal ji,the proprietor of Suhag Textiles which was created in 1940 in Kashmir valley under the Dogra Dynasty when Honourable His Highness Hari Singh ji was the King. Suhag Textiles was one of the first factories in 1940 in Srinagar then. It was locate
d at Goggi Bagh in Srinagar-Kashmir. Both Lala Gurshai Mal Saigal ji & Shrimati Suhagwanti Saigal ji were pillar of Swadeshi Movement in Kashmir at that time. Handloom our heritage and back bone of our textile industry was promoted with the help of local artisan and weavers. My grandmother was an inspiration for all, as she had dedicated her life to preserve the traditions and purity of the Indian culture. And my grandfather was a great visionary. Both as a team they were the pillars of the industry in Kashmir. In 1974 after 34years my grandmother made me join her. At that time I was only 11years old. I was very much attached to her. During summer holidays, I would always take out time to learn about Handloom in the factory which was just a walking distant from our home at 21-Wazir Bagh. It was really a great experience to learn age old weaving and precision techniques of the craft. In fact the Mughal Art does fascinate me a lot. Time changed and in 2008 exactly after 34years JiKashmir launched it's brand " Ji " for exclusive Cashmere wraps in Ludhiana. The philosophy of " Ji " is to create fashion & empower the women. " Ji " is by & for the women ! Like our thoughts we are dedicated to create exclusivity with traditional techniques in Cashmere and other natural fibres only like Bamboo, Cotton, and Silk & Linen. There is a long journey ahead but with the support of our artisan, weavers & valuable buyers of our exclusive, authentic, natural & eco-friendly fabrics, we are sure " Ji " will be a world brand one day!!
