Our Amma poured herself into the world around her. A proud Nicholson Old Girl, she carried the Kottapuram and Kayyalath–Karunapuzha family names with immense pride. Her beautiful garden reflected the care she gave to everything she nurtured. Her garden was full of life. With a masters in Botany, there wasn’t a scientific plant name she didn’t know, and there was hardly anything she ever forgot. Family stories, Random facts, birthdays, recipes, little details from years ago. Her memory amazed us all. She loved to paint, create beautiful embroidery on sarees, and cook meals that brought family and friends together around the table. She found joy in sharing what she knew and what she made. Amma was the one who held us together. She raised two energetic boys while working full time in Abu Dhabi. She carried so much on her shoulders, yet we never heard her complain. Her home was always open. No one ever left without feeling loved, well fed, and cared for. She welcomed everyone with the same warm smile. Her laugh filled the house, her humor caught you by surprise, and her gentle voice made people feel at ease.
To her grandchildren, she was the best Ammachi anyone could ask for. She taught them to cook, to stitch, to care for others, and to treat people with kindness. The lessons she gave them came from the way she lived every day. She was a beloved Amma, Ammachi, wife, sister, aunt, friend, perfectionist, botanist and artist. She touched so many lives without ever trying to. She simply loved people well, and they loved her back. We don’t know what life will look like without her. We will miss her voice, her laughter, the smell of something delicious cooking in the kitchen, and the comfort of knowing she was always there. But we carry her with us in every memory, every tradition, and every act of kindness we learned from her.We are forever grateful for the privilege of being loved by her . Her love, her strength, her smile, and her beautiful spirit will remain with us always.
