A menswear inspired shirt meets the half puan, bringing past and present into quiet conversation. Inspired by the Mizo tradition of carrying memories through stories, songs, and shared histories, the collection reflects an enduring dialogue between heritage and contemporary identity.

We are deeply grateful to the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art(KNMA) for giving us the space to tell our own story through this study on Puantah - the Mizo style backstrap loom.

We left feeling energized by the curiosity and enthusiasm of the young students who participated so wholeheartedly.

A special thank you to our weavers, Nu Ching and Nu Chiin, for so generously sharing their time, knowledge, and craft with everyone present.

Honoured to begin a conversation that places Mizo weaves within a larger, evolving context of collective making. Curated by

The exhibition titled 'No One Maker' reflects on textile as a shared language, where indigenous knowledge, collaboration, and reciprocity shape new ways of creating. Through this, Mizo weaves are not seen as singular objects, but as living practices rooted in community, memory, and exchange.

Our installation is inspired from our 'Thembu Project', in collaboration with .indians_mizoram.chapter , where we travel from school to school, sharing the joy of learning culture with young students. The main frame draws inspiration from the monkey bars we often adapt as makeshift tools to mount the Thembu, enabling students to learn the backstrap loom, a tradition that is slowly fading in Mizoram.

We hope this work encourages stakeholders and cultural leaders to nurture and invest in indigenous textiles and ways of living, so that these practices continue to live, evolve, and belong to future generations.

We are deeply grateful to Shreyansi Singh for curating No One Maker, and to for creating a space for dialogue, co-creation, and shared stewardship.
