Industrial Visit to Wool Research Association, Thane
Our Department of Textile and Fashion Designing at Sir Vithaldas Thackersey College of Home Science (SNDT University) had the privilege of visiting the Wool Research Association (WRA), Thane. This educational tour provided us with in-depth knowledge of innovations in sports technical textiles.
A total of 45 students, guided by faculty coordinators Vidya Thakur and Dr. Khushboo Shrimali, and supported by Dr. Armaiti Shukla, Head of the Department, actively participated in this enriching experience.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Shri H.K. Chatterjee (Director General), Shri K.K. Mishra (Director), and Dr. Mrinal Choudhari (Joint Director) for their warm hospitality. Special thanks to Dr. Mrinal Choudhari for enlightening us on technical textile specifications, skill development, training facilities, and certification courses.
Shri Shishir Tyagi (Senior Deputy Director) provided valuable insights into Sportech and product performance evaluation, while Shri Mayur Basuk (Senior Deputy Director) elaborated on the facilities at the Sportech Incubation Centre – Pilot Plant.
This visit offered us valuable industry exposure to advanced textile testing, technical textiles, and performance evaluation, emphasizing the significance of research and innovation in the evolving textile industry.
