I used to struggle with pattern ideas until I realised this.

The question we get asked the most is

Where do you find inspiration for a pattern?

Here's what I've learned over the years.

Patterns aren't something we invented recently. They've been part of human history for thousands of years.

Long before design software and digital printing, artisans were creating beautiful patterns by hand using simple tools and inspiration from the world around them.

If you look at some of India's most iconic prints, you'll notice one thing in common they weren't created out of thin air.

They were inspired by nature, culture, traditions, architecture, folklore, and everyday life.

The truth is, great pattern ideas are everywhere. The skill isn't finding inspiration

it's learning how to observe, collect, and transform what you see into something unique.
