ODDLY FAMILIAR, NOTICEABLY DIFFERENT.

The bangle has always just been there. On a mother’s wrist, at the bottom of a jewellery box, passed down without much thought. We chose it because nothing else holds everyday life quite like a bangle.

Bangles are a quintessential accessory in the South Asian context. They signify the different phases of a woman’s life and represent the inherent versatility of her roles. While they are both nostalgic and ubiquitous, our intention is to evoke those deep-seated emotions by presenting them in a brand-new manner.

This vase, designed to look like a stack of bangles, offers a fresh perspective on a classic cultural element. The use of stainless steel is entirely intentional. It aims to bring visibility to materials innate to our culture that were often discounted due to a persisting colonial hangover.

On the 10th of May, we transformed a heritage bungalow into an immersive landscape to celebrate the collaboration between Notice and Two Odd.

The evening marked the debut of the Bangle Vase—a piece that reinterprets the South Asian bangle as a symbol of cultural versatility. By casting this familiar, intimate object in industrial stainless steel, the design reclaims a material deeply embedded in our everyday, yet often overlooked.

Set within a larger exploration of Modern Nostalgia, the space unfolded as a multi-sensory circuit of installations, live music, and a sculptural tablescape. A South Asian renaissance emerged through contrast—delicate, feminine bangles held within an exposed, almost brutalist structure. Tension became the language, much like the object itself.

This dialogue extended beyond the physical through whose pours carried the narrative into a more ephemeral form. Their presence wove through the evening, translating memory, material, and mood into cocktails that echoed the spirit of reinvention at the heart of the collaboration.

Guests moved through an evolving landscape of food, design, and art—where the materials of our past weren’t preserved, but reshaped into something distinctly contemporary.

By reimagining this ubiquitous accessory in industrial stainless steel, the design intentionally reclaims a material innate to our heritage that is often overlooked.

Within this space and through our Bangle Vase, the theme taps into Modern Nostalgia. A South Asian renaissance came to life through a multi-sensory circuit of art installations, live musical performances, and a sculptural tablescape. The environment played on a paradox where two contrasts meet, much like the product itself: delicate, feminine bangles set against an exposed, brutalist structure that holds them together.

Guests were invited to move through a living dialogue of food, design, and art, where the materials of our past are reshaped for a contemporary conversation.
