THE DANCE STREET: A ONE-STOP DESTINATION FOR DANCE LOVERS IN INDIA
Friedrich Nietzsche once said, “We should consider every day lost on which we have not danced at least once.”
This is the very sentiment on which TheDanceStreet.com is based. This one-of-its-kind start-up aims at creating a one-stop online destination for existing and potential dancers in the country, a vent
ure hitherto unheard of. Think of it as the ultimate dance-centric encyclopedia at one’s disposal — whether you’re looking for a neighbourhood class in your city or wish to discover the nuances of a particular dance form. Here’s a glimpse of the exciting features that dance enthusiasts can look forward to on The Dancing Street:
· A unique highlight of the website will be its e-commerce section, which will specifically cater to Indian dancers by bringing them a premium range of dancing gear and equipment of international quality at unheard of prices.
· A live update feature in the form of mini web pages dedicated to different dance companies, collating information ranging from dance styles they specialize in, class venues and timings to their fee structure, upcoming events and so on.
· A video promotion centre where the portal’s e-commerce customers can share videos of their performances with other dancers who are a part of the network. This is indeed the perfect way to grab the right eyeballs!
· A networking forum, which allows users to connect with dancers from all around the globe and exchange experiences, information and knowledge through real-time chat. About The Dance Street’s Founder: Harsh Himmatsingka
The Dance Street is the brainchild of 26-year-old Harsh Himmatsingka, a Mumbai-based entrepreneur by profession but a dancer by passion. Harsh has been a part of The Danceworx for the past four years, training in dance forms like jazz, contemporary, ballet and hip-hop. The Dance Street is his passion project, a manifestation for his absolute love for dance. With this venture, his aim is to provide dancers with a platform to find easily accessible information and showcase their talent in a fuss-free manner. It is a combined endeavour to showcase the talent in India when it comes to western and western classical forms of dance and also help dancers find the right equipment in the process.
