Every time we participate in The Lil Flea The Lil Flea and watch many many people try on MIRCHI KOMACHI clothes, I'm reminded that the same piece can feel completely different from person to person. The change is drastic on a woman and on a man, too. I never get tired of seeing it.

And then there's this photo.
Jishnu Jishnu Raj Deka 🧿 is wearing our Kimono Jacket in a dimly lit room, having drinks with friends... and suddenly it looks unexpectedly sensual. Like a perfect outfit for nighttime!

Then, often someone tries something on and it feels like a puzzle piece clicking perfectly into place, like “This piece was made for them!"
Those moments are my absolute favourite.
I want to keep creating clothes that bring out your personality.

👘The Kimono Jacket Jishnu is wearing sold out super quick at the previous Lil Flea, but we’ve made more Kimono Jackets in lots of different moods and fabrics.
Go explore them on our website (link in bio).

Did you see the Aloha shirt made from a Yukata that we created for the winner of our Tanabata Giveaway?
Well... I came back from Japan with several more Yukata because I couldn't resist😆 And we're turning them into more Aloha shirts.

This is one of the Yukata.
Among the Obi (Kimono belts) I brought, only this “men's” Obi matched the colour of this Yukata, so I'm wearing it in the “men's” style.

Swipe to the second photo. Yep... I took the entire Yukata apart.

The fabric for Kimono is only about 15 inches wide, while standard Indian fabric is around 44 inches wide. A Kimono is created by sewing together several long, narrow panels into one garment.

So I unpicked every seam and separated it into individual pieces. I gave them a gentle wash and dried them. Once they're ironed... the real fun begins: making the shirt!
It's a lot of work, but I already can't wait to see the finished piece.

These one-of-a-kind upcycled Yukata Aloha shirts will be released in verrrry limited quantities, and Instagram will be the first place we'll announce them. So stay tuned!

⁡🎋 The prize for Tanabata GiveAway 2026 🎋
Sorry to keep you waiting! The prize shirt for the winner is finally completed!

The fabric features Japanese Iris and fireflies glowing coolly in the summer night. This time, we’ve got Nami from One Piece as our model from Japan.
And here's the fun part: It was actually a Yukata, or a lightweight, unlined, full-length cotton Kimono worn in summer👘

I found this Yukata at a temple flea market in Japan (some of you may have seen it in my Stories). I brought it home, took it apart, washed the fabric, planned the placement of the motifs, and finally made it into this one-of-a-kind handmade Aloha Shirt👚

Actually, there was another experimentation at the initial stage.
I noticed that our winner Kaumudi-san Kaumudi Naithani seems to often wear fairly fitted clothes, so I started tweaking the pattern to make our usually loose-fitting shirt less roomy.
After some experiments, I realised that I was about to make a completely different shirt😂
I caught myself deciding what her taste should be instead of making the shirt we had promised.
So I went back to the original MIRCHI KOMACHI open-collar shirt pattern, and simply raised the drop shoulder a little📐

I think it turned out to be a cool Aloha Shirt with Japanese summer vibes. Hope Kaumudi-san likes it🙏

One thing - Aloha Shirt is another name for this kind of open-collar shirt. Its early history is closely tied to Japanese immigrants in Hawai‘i, who adapted Japanese Kimono fabrics to make shirts in a Western style. Apparently, Aloha Shirts have some hardcore collectors, and vintage pieces can go for absolutely wild prices.

This shirt also started life as a Japanese Kimono (Yukata), and ended up as an Aloha Shirt worn by an Indian lady❤️‍🔥

⁡🎋 And the winner of our 2026 Tanabata GiveAway is... Kaumudi Kaumudi Naithani Congratulations!! 🎊⁡
I'll be searching for the perfect fabric just for you in Japan. I can't wait to make your one-of-a-kind Cuban Collar Shirt!⁡

Her vision for the future was so fitting for someone who shares her life with 3 dogs.⁡
Just to be clear - I don’t choose a GiveAway winner based only on their answer. But I truly hope the future she imagined, where every animal can live a happy and safe life, arrives as soon as possible.⁡

And to everyone else who participated... thank you so so so much🙏⁡
Reading your visions of the future was such a joy. You showed us worlds that were hopeful, thoughtful, warm, and deeply personal. Thank you for sharing your dreams💙⁡
We'll be back with more fun campaigns, so I hope you'll participate again!⁡

✈️ And... I'm leaving for Japan tomorrow!⁡
In my last trip 3 years ago, I shared little moments every now and then through Instagram Stories, and the comments from y’all made it feel like we were traveling together. It became such an emotional journey thanks to you fam, and I'd love to experience that again👯⁡

⁡🎋 Tanabata GiveAway is back! 🎋⁡
Yep... that time of year has come again. Tanabata! ⁡

If you're like "What's Tanabata though?", go have a read of our Tanabata blog (link in bio), then come right back. We'll wait. 😉⁡

This year's prize is the same as last year's: a custom-made Cuban Collar Shirt (Open Collar Shirt).⁡
But here's the yummy twist.⁡
This year, I'll be flying to Japan shortly after Tanabata, and I'll personally hunt for the perfect Japanese fabric for the winner's shirt❤️‍🔥⁡

That means the prize will be ready around early August… but I promise it'll be worth the wait.⁡

This isn't a prize we offer often. Actually it's super rare coz my trips to Japan have a habit of getting derailed by one thing after another…🙈⁡

So don’t miss this chance! Just so you know... the competition in our giveaways is ridiculously low! 😂  ⁡

This is the last new Kimono Jacket launched on our website for this month🐣⁡

This modernist feel... Bauhaus-inspired? Mid-Century Modernism? I thought this fabric is so cool. And when we turned it into a Kimono Jacket, it became even cooler than I imagined.⁡

I can’t recommend this Kimono Jacket enough even to those who usually stay far away from "ethnic."⁡
This is another colour, Choco.⁡

😺Phal phal has been supporting MIRCHI KOMACHI as a brand for years. But I think the Kimono Jacket was the first piece she personally saw herself wearing in everyday life. It was a huge pleasure to start receiving her orders online🥹⁡
Then this April at The Lil Flea The Lil Flea , l finally got to meet her in person! I was genuinely thrilled❤️‍🔥⁡

The piece she decided to take home that day was this tie-dye black Kimono Jacket.⁡
It's quite a bold print, but it suits her perfectly.⁡

Is it just me, there's something about this photo - the light, the surroundings, the mood - that feels like a location from a cool TV series? And this jacket highlights her edgy charm.⁡

👘This tie-dye Kimono Jacket sold out at The Lil Flea, and we could make only one more piece (Unisex Size S) from the last piece of fabric.⁡
If you'd like to grab it, DM us! ⁡

Another new Kimono Jacket on our website 🐣

Most of our fabrics come from traditional Indian textile techniques. At The Lil Flea The Lil Flea, I've occasionally heard visitors saying, “But my daughter doesn't wear ‘ethnic’...” So we are that much “ethnic”.⁡

But every now and then, I come across a fabric that isn't traditional at all but can't walk away from it. ⁡
This was one of those fabrics.⁡
This modernist feel... Bauhaus-inspired? Mid-Century Modernism? I thought it’s so cool. And when we turned it into a Kimono Jacket, it became even cooler than I imagined❤️‍🔥⁡

I can’t recommend this Kimono Jacket enough even to those who usually stay far away from "ethnic."⁡
Coming with 2 colour variations; Beige, Choco.⁡

🐣New Kimono Jacket on our website🐣⁡
This gorgeous sky blue feels like an instant mood boost. Even on the gloomy monsoon days (where is the monsoon this year, by the way??), it somehow makes everything look a little brighter.⁡

To maintain our reputation for questionable decisions, I styled these nice-print Kimono Jackets with weird mirrored sunglasses🤡.⁡

Seems that Rishiket-san Rishiket loved our black elephant-print blazer he picked up at The Lil Flea The Lil Flea, because the very next time he visited, he showed up wearing it🖤⁡

His styling was cool; wearing it boldly without a shirt underneath, pairing with loose black trousers (sadly not visible in this pic). And he was happily smiling in that style!⁡

I later learned that he runs businesses focused on helping children stay active and adventurous, while he’s also an avid sportsman and traveler himself.⁡

I felt that, for him, clothing and hats are among the tools for living life to the fullest, along with all the other activities. He wears everything effortlessly and confidently, and enjoys the moment in it!⁡

And seeing our jackets become part of someone’s real life adventures? That’s exactly why I do what I do❤️‍🔥⁡

🧥The blazer jacket he's wearing has sold out in April, but visit our website and explore our collection of uniquely-Indian blazer jackets. Link in bio.⁡
