Baby sleep stages: what your baby should sleep in, from newborn to 5 years

Most parents ask us the same thing: “Is it time to move up?”

Here’s the simple version:

Stage 1 (0–3 months): Sleeping Pod. Snug and held.
Stage 2 (3–6 months): Transitional Pod. Room for arms to wiggle.
Stage 3 (6–12 months): Sleepsuit or Sleeping Bag. Free to roll, crawl and sit.
Stage 4 (1–5 years): Night Suit. Comfy for the big-kid bed.

The moment your baby starts rolling, move to arms-free sleepwear. Every baby is different, so go at your baby’s pace.
