Handwoven atlas, threaded with zari for a day that asked for nothing less.

Buttons set with polki and diamonds, each one crafted only for this outfit, never to be repeated. A cotton lattha shalwar beneath, and safas tied and dyed by the rangrez of Jodhpur, colour carried across states, just to sit right on his head.

When his aunt’s tears came, he simply held her closer. Then came the mischief, joota chhupai, the oldest war of every shaadi.

Sherwanis, every generation wears it differently. Some in ivory, some in khaki, some in the deepest navy and the groom in traditional shahana colour, but the root of the craft stay the same: hand-finished collars, silhouettes that hold their shape, details meant to be noticed slowly.

After the dhol, the khauns full of tofas, and bhaat ceremony, came the true soul of the evening, a quiet revival of our community’s folk songs and the traditions that ground us.

Ayesha’s side and Faisal’s side, sisters, aunts, the women engaged in lighthearted, playful exchange of witty banter. Each side defended their own with laughter, matching every verse with an even wittier comeback.
In our weddings, the geet-sangeet is a timeless tradition, where both sides of the family come together not just to celebrate, but to playfully spar through songs.

This reminded us, it was never just about glitz and glamour. It was a gentle remembering of the quiet traditions that define us

The Bhaat, is a raw emotional celebration of lifelong love and support of the brother & the maternal family to the bride’s mother.
The Sihali Pathans who live in an area heavily influenced by local Rajput Chauhans, over centuries, have created a beautiful syncretic culture where they have adopted several local Ganga-Jamuni and North Indian wedding customs.

Malkah’s wedding saw a beautiful twist to this ceremony. Traditionally brought by the Mamma (uncle), her biya and nannabi brought the bhaat with dhol, with dancing, with gifts and all the joy they could carry.  Ayesha welcomed them at the door with  gulaab & ittar. The love &  joy with which Ayesha & her family celebrated this reflects the bond & support that they share & is a true epitome of the Bhaat tradition..

A Rajputt rasam. A Pathan family. A Ganga Jamuni tehzeeb, alive and dancing.

Red was always the right choice for this night

Khadeeja’s mehendi blouse and dupatta by Sihali Jageer had bareeq gota patti work on the organza dupatta, so fine it moves like a breath. The kamkhab blouse was also adorned with heavy gota patti embroidery.

She dance and looked stunning but still couldn’t hold it together every time she looked at Malkah.

For the day mehendi look, Renu Rana wore a stunning Anarkali kurta in matiya pyazi, woven in tissue chanderi with a soft, lived-in glow. The dupatta is adorned in aari and karchob embroidery, gold thread tracing stories onto silk.
