Payal Jain is the only Indian artist participating in the World of Threads Festival 2026โ€“27, an international showcase bringing together 900+ artworks by 192 artists from 22 countries.Her work joins a global dialogue in contemporary fibre and textile art, exploring how artistic knowledge travels across generations through inherited techniques, cultural narratives, family histories and material memory.

Through her evolving practice in textile sculpture, Payal brings the depth of Indian textile traditions into a contemporary artistic vocabulary, placing material, memory and making in conversation with a global community of artists

The uniform aesthetic for this historic property draws inspiration from the cultural richness of Bundelkhand and the legacy of the Bundela dynasty, whose influence continues to define the regionโ€™s architectural and artistic identity.

The costume traditions reflected in the attire of the Bundela courts, provided an important point of reference for the collection. Intricate embroideries, woven textures, delicate trimmings and tassel details lent richness and depth to these garments, revealing an aesthetic shaped by generations of skilled artisans.

This collection begins in Varanasi, with the enduring beauty of Katruan and Kadhua weaves. Woven by hand in shades of ivory with touches of gold, the textiles remain at the heart of every silhouette.

Fine zardozi, delicate sequins, and beadwork add light rather than ornament, while flowing skirts, sculpted corsets, tailored shirts, and layered Anarkalis are finished with heirloom Kundan jewellery and fragrant gajras, a quiet celebration of Indian craftsmanship and effortless modern elegance.
