After a wonderful time at IFAM, our founder we are heading to Berkeley, CA as a part of the World Shibori Network ‘s upcoming event series.

July 16 is the prelude to WSNF’s larger India Textile Art showcase, where Ash*ta discusses our methodology with Dr. Yoshiko I Wada.

Textile designer and frequent face of Paiwand,harsh and Ash*ta Singhal sit down for a conversation about gender, identity, the community and what work looks like for a gender fluid, q***r creative.

Amidst many giggles and moments of introspection, Harsh walks us through memories at Paiwand, a bond with the artisans and how to pursue authenticity as a celebration of one’s identity, but also how to flourish beyond.

From intimate workshops to a talk at the to a soft debut of our SS26 collection at the wonderful – a boutique that understands the value of intentional, independent craft – our week at Santa Fe was full of meaningful exchanges and genuine connection.

In addition to representing New Artist Sponsorship, conducted three half day workshops, attended by 75 craft enthusiasts. Titled ‘Threads of Revivals, the workshop introduced participants to Paiwand’s way of embroidering with waste.

We’ll be back this summer for the International Folk Art Market. Stay tuned!

Last month, we returned to Santa Fe, a community close to our heart.

was invited by as this year’s residency artist for their New Artist Sponsorship event – an annual celebration that rallies donors around the next generation of first-time artists entering the market. It gave us a platform to reflect on what IFAM’s emerging artist grant has meant for Paiwand and for the larger conversation we are trying to contribute to. The grant has done more than open doors, it amplifies our voice as we speak honestly about the problem of textile waste, and the quiet, considered work of upcycling – of finding beauty and purpose in what already exists.

Ash*ta also spoke about what that support truly made possible – how the sponsorship gave a modern-day craft the visibility and credibility it deserves. How it built courage. How it helped us navigate the very real challenges that come with stepping onto a global stage for the first time, with a practice that asks people to see value in what is so often discarded.

It was a reminder of why this work matters. We hope that by sharing it openly, we can inspire the next generation of designers and changemakers to ask harder questions about what they create, and how.

It was a meaningful moment to stand in that role. Just last year, Ash*ta was on the other side of it, one of a select few artists chosen to receive this sponsorship for the very first time. This year, she returned as its face.

We are endlessly grateful to IFAM for championing not just artists, but ideas; and for creating a community of donors who believe that creativity and systemic change are deeply intertwined.

And we are already looking forward to returning this summer for the International Folk Art Market. There is still so much more to share. 🤍
