A disciple’s tribute to her Guru – Smt. Shama Bhate (Shama Tai)
This moment is beyond special — a full circle of gratitude, love, and devotion. On the occasion of the 75th birthday celebration of my Guru, Smt. Shama Tai, my homegrown brand Fabruch had the honour and privilege to design and create the costumes for this grand Kathak performance.
As I watched the stage light up at Ganesh Kala Krida Rangamanch, filled with her disciples from across the world, every twirl, every chakkar, every expression felt like a reflection of her timeless artistry. For me, this isn’t just a professional milestone — it’s deeply personal
Seeing my Guru’s vision come alive through fabrics, colours, and textures — blending tradition and modernity — felt surreal. Every costume carried a story, a rhythm, and a touch of her guidance.
This was truly an opportunity of a lifetime for Fabruch — to dress the disciples of Shama Tai in creations born out of the very inspiration she instilled in me.
